About Dr. Phung

A Vietnamese immigrant, Dr. Phung moved to the United States with her family when she was 11 years old, settling in Northern California. After high school, she attended the University of California, Irvine where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her BS degree in Biological Sciences. Then she earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Miami.

During medical school, Dr. Phung participated in many health fairs throughout the years to provide medical and ophthalmic screening to a large underserved population in South Florida. With that background, she pioneered the Darwin Eye Project, providing vision screening to residents on the Galapagos islands along with faculty and ophthalmology residents from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.

Following medical school, Dr. Phung completed her residency at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Throughout her training, Dr. Phung has always been a great advocate for her patients, has participated in patient education and continues to encourage her patients to be actively involved in their own care.

In her spare time, Dr. Phung enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, bowling, hiking, and doing yoga.
